Friends of Paul Why I'm Running

America is the greatest country in the world! The opportunity and hope it has provided to people from all walks of life is unprecedented. When my grandparents risked everything to immigrate legally to this country from Greece, they did so because the freedom to find their own way and determine their outcome was readily available. Previous generations have sacrificed dearly to preserve this gift of freedom.

Now, it is our turn, as grateful beneficiaries, to stand and preserve this legacy. America is the land of people who are smart, innovative, and willing to sacrifice for anyone in their time of need. Our capacity is boundless, our charity renowned. We can solve and overcome any problem before us using our common sense and American ingenuity.

The current politicians in Washington have failed us. Crippling debt, extreme waste, a terrible economy, high unemployment and an unwillingness to support small businesses are the results of our incumbents in DC. We can do better and that's why I'm running.

I want to stand up for "We the People" with the resolve that we can chart our destiny more efficiently and elegantly than career politicians ever can. A thimble full of common sense is more effective than anything Washington, DC could produce. It is this common sense I intend to deliver as the next United States Senator representing the State of Washington.

News Article: Republican U.S. Senate candidate takes to the airwaves
By Kyung Song

"A Bellingham businessman who's aiming to defeat Sen. Patty Murray is taking to the airwaves in an advertising campaign targeted at true-red conservatives. Paul Akers, a wood worker-turned-entrepreneur, began airing radio and cable television spots this month in Seattle, Spokane and Bellingham -- apparently the first candidate to do so among the dozen who are hoping to deny Murray a fourth term." Read more

"I know there is a lot of anticipation about whether Dino Rossi will join the race for U.S. Senate. He is clearly the favorite with the most affection and name recognition in the state. At this point in time, he is not a contender, though. I still maintain that the only serious US Senate candidate in the race, so far, is Paul Akers. I am not prepared to "endorse" him yet, but at this point in the race, he's the only candidate that caused me to sit up and take notice." Read more

"I have a deep affection for Dino and would love nothing more for him to serve in public office, but Paul Akers has a winning pitch from the start. His candidacy, which was announced by Dick Morris before Akers himself ever released the news, looks promising." Read more

Whatcom County's Paul Akers will run against Sen. Murray
"The field of Republican candidates seeking to oust Sen. Patty Murray, D-Washington, keeps on growing. Whatcom County resident Paul Akers is in the race, though he hadn't planned to officially make that public yet. Instead, he was outed by conservative political pundit Dick Morris, a frequent guest on Fox News programs, who mentioned him during an interview with Sean Hannity on the conservative talkshow host's radio program." Read more
